BIKERS ASSOCIATION OF NORTH DEVON
Arriving in the 'new' town of Pompei, the traffic was dreadful and we just wanted to get off the roads asap. We ended up in a nice hotel but the grouchiest hoteliers possible. Still, it didn't spoil the stay.
The next morning we discovered that we were just an amble away from the ruins (Scavi) of Pompei but at he wrong end. Bugger.
The heat was intense but when we got to the entrance we found out that teachers and under 25s got cheap entry. Andy was offically a child and able to justify some of his behaviour. We didn't want to hand over our passports for an audio commentary so we made our own way around the huge site.
Aaaarrrh! Tourists everywhere.
Pompei Ampi theatre.
Ultimately, Pompei is disapponting because almost all the artifacts have been removed to Naples museum. There are few information boards as you walk around, so you need to either hire a guide or an audio kit to get a good understanding of the site.
Sitting outside the cafe having a relaxing breakfast opposite the hotel. This image offers an insight into the traffic. We don't recall seeing any car or bus without dented panels.
