BIKERS ASSOCIATION OF NORTH DEVON
20th- 21st June 2008
Heading out of the mad streets of Pompei via the equally mad streets of Naples, we make for Rome. Not wanting to risk the same awful traffic, we decide to take B&B at Fiumichio which is very close to the Leonardo Da Vinci airport and train station.
Andy is delighted to find a wall in Italy, even though it is a modern wall, that has some polished plaster just like he makes back in Devon.
At the train station. And we always thought that Segways were kiddies toys. We wouldn't laugh at them with those guns that's for sure.
You can cross palms with money and be allowed to take a photograph with some people dressed as Gladiators, or you can let others pay the money and click away as they pose.
Ben & Lyn make as Lions. Yes really they are.
The ceiling of the Pantheon is enormous. It seems that it stood for 1,000 years before another free standing domed ceiling was built that is bigger.
Next stop the Vatican.
The Basillica Di St.Petro is stunning. We had no time to see any other part of the Vatican. Almost as impressive is that there is no entry fee, although there is a strict dress code.
The Trevi Fountain, get to the water if you can through the throng of tourists.
Or you can try and get to the Trevi Fountain through the tourist fluff.
Andy is on the lookout for a new bike.
All smiles, well nearly all, at the end of a long day as we wait at the Leonardo Da Vinci airport for our ride back.
